The way we believe (chapter 2)„My god it’s cold!!“ Atima wrapped her arms around herself. She had dressed herself for a winterday with her black coat but here it was much colder than where she lived. She shivered and opened her backpack to pull out a long red scarf. She wrapped it around her neck and then started walking in a random direction. Since she had no idea where she actually had to go she just followed the first path she found in the forest she landed.
Atima kept wandering until she reached a small city. Slightly out of breath she sat down on a bench near a big sculpture. She had been walking through the snowy scenery since two hours now and needed a small break.
‘this is a pretty little town. ‘I like it here’, she thought. ‘But is this the place I have to be?’ She watched a few people pass by, talking happily together. After a while, she opened her backpack and pulled out a white laptop. ‘maybe the internet can help me…’ She turned the com
a dangerous hallucinationThe light coming through the window was bright,
much too bright.
Even though my eyes were closed
I could see it-
The skin of my arms prickled,
sweat dripped from my brow.
It was two in the afternoon but…
the sun was setting
through the window facing east.
I should have seen the hutch,
shelves lined with bone china
decorated with delicate leaves and vines.
I was so thirsty
and reaching for cups that should have been there.
Instead I found a billboard of butterflies,
the colors raging
more than any rainbow
I'd ever seen.
Their wings fluttered and flashed
yet somehow they moved in slow motion.
I wanted to stand,
wanted to reach out and touch them but…
I couldn't move,
and yet I laughed
ignoring my dry mouth
and the tingling in my feet.
There was a tempest
on the rise
and in my blood.
A sugar rush disguised
as a riot of butterflies
and they were swarming me.
There was a small vial
of insulin in my pocket
